How to Move Out of Your Family House

Right Into Your New College Dorm

Moving out of your family house and into a dorm for college is an exciting time. It’s also a transition that can be difficult at times. What should you pack? How do you prepare the house for the next person? There are many things to consider before moving day arrives, but we’re here to help! In this blog post, we’ll cover everything from packing tips to preparing your home for sale – plus more!

The first thing you need to do is figure out what you’re bringing with you. You should start packing early, but don’t pack everything up at once! It’s important that your parents are able to access certain items over the summer months – like blankets and towels for example. For this reason, wait until about a week or two before moving day so you can plan accordingly.

Moving Out

Pack your bedroom first. This will be the space you’ll want to focus on moving day, and it should be relatively easy for your parents to access throughout the summer months if necessary!

Once you’ve packed up all of your belongings, make sure everything is labeled properly. It’s important that each box has a destination – whether it’s in storage (for example), or delivered directly to campus with movers. If you’re not hiring movers , then we recommend labeling boxes as “fragile” – especially any glass ones! You don’t want something breaking en route from Point A to Point B because no one took the time label them appropriately. After all, a simple mistake could cost hundreds of dollars…which brings us our next point.

Packing your room should include a fair share of bubble wrap, newspaper and other materials that can help protect the items inside from breaking. If you have any glassware or fragile pieces – pack them accordingly so nothing breaks! It’s also recommended to purchase some boxes specifically for packing breakable belongings as well. Those will likely be smaller than regular moving boxes so they won’t take up too much space in storage if necessary later on down the road. As far as furniture goes, we recommend renting plastic covers at least 24 hours before movers arrive just to ensure everything is covered properly .
